What music video tutorials would you like to see?

I am very interested in covering subjects that the community around the site wants to know more about. What “hot” topic would you like to see explained? Any special sounds you’d like to see? Just put your comments or your questions in the comments and I’ll try to create the tutorials accordingly.

I have already noted down some topics I would like to cover and I have some great ideas about some Dance Music Secrets I want to share ;)

This time they’ll be full 720p HD video tutorials and, of course, for free!

Stay tuned…

    Hi there mate!

Actually there are a couple of sounds I am wondering how to do… I have techniques to approach them more or less, but it’s not giving me full satisfaction.

So, here is my shopping list:

    - the arminish-anjunabeatish acid sound… I hope you see what I mean, otherwise I can illustrate. Typically on those 138 BPM highbeat trance tracks, for example it’s really upfront in “The Doppler Effect – Beauty Hides In The Deep (John O’Callaghan remix) I could get something close with a saw trhough a highly resonant lowpass filter, saturation and then a highpass filter to make it clearer, but i think it’s kinda weak, any other idea?

    - The rhodes from Gabriel Lukosz feat. Rachele Warner - Last One Out (Myon & Shane54 Remix) ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UlqdMlNQTx8 )… same kind of rhodes there were in those old anthem trance tracks, any idea?

    - The bassline from Ronski Speed - all the way (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5-xBh-OtC0), which is also used in the cosmic gate remix of Veracocha - Carte blanche) . Seems like a dark hoover pad with a long note playing, and with sidechaining on it, what do you think?

    - The lead from W&W - Coutach (also used in Joop - the future) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLprHB3WzVM . Something like a square wave, but what exactly?

    - The “mystical” cymbal crash, as in those arminish tracks… no examples in my mind, tried to do them with flanger and/or pitch bend, but didn’t get the exact same thing… any idea?

Cheers man and thanks for those awesome tutorials!

    Jordan

I’ll get back with some comments ;)

Ha good, it’s probably because it contained too much links and talked about shopping :) I thought I had hit a super-secret that couldn’t be disclosed, and since then I was worried that a pizza delivery van with a satellite dish would stay in front of my house…

    :)

I have one more request but it’s very very hard to explain because I have NO CLUE what it is, but I’ll try to isolate it in a couple of tracks and ask you what you think about it.

    Greets!
    Cheers man!

    Hi Giorgio,

I love what you’re doing here. Was wondering if you could give us some tips to create that full on, 16th note style bassline that goes on in a lot of Activa and Simon Patterson tracks. Especially Activa. His tracks are amazing.

Hope to hear from you soon.

    Regards,

    Daniel :)

    Hi guys,

I need to schedule another round of video tutorial production, so keep those coming.

Jordan: by all means if you find it, just send in the link!

Daniel: do you have a link (youtube is perfect) to one specific track?

  6. Albert Says:

Would you like to do a tutorial on melodies, harmony & chords.
How they interact, how you should think when creating them etc.

Thats my main problem, i always get stuck when creating melodies and then i can’t find chord progressions to go with them. or when i create chords and cant get a melody to go with that, you get the idea.

    would be awesome!

    thnx in advance

    Hi Albert,

thanks for the idea. I will add it to the “to do” list ;)

I think I’ll do another round of tutorials towards the end of the month and I’ll publish them then.

  8. Daniel Says:

    Hi Giorgio,

Here is the link to what I was talking about. Cheers

  9. Sergiu aka D-Flux Says:

    hello,

very nice tutorials so far :D

down to the point: I also have the same problem as Albert with secondary leads, for example I get a cool lead but at one point it gets repetitive and it sounds dry without an arpeggio in the backside driving it, also I am having problems with the secondary lead which comes before the main lead, I tried some combinations in the same key but they just dont fit the main lead like they supposed to do, so any tutorials on how to make that “motive expectancy” effect would be much appreciated :D

    cheers

    Hi!
Would really appreciate a tutorial on how to make some lush/thin yet energetic (trance)pads. Now, I don’t mean those superdetuned superpads, but more subtle like in Super8-Get off.
